Oventus launches new manufacturing facility

Brisbane medical device company Oventus has launched its first onshore manufacturing facility at Indooroopilly.

The 325sqm facility will manufacture a range of devices for sleep disordered breathing and will also run a patient clinic.

The company?s flagship product, the Oventus Clearway Device, is a 3D titanium printed mouthguard which aims to treat sufferers of snoring and associated sleep disoreders.

Each device is customised to a patient?s tongue size, shape of teeth and size of their airway.

The company has recently raised $4 million after completing a funding roadshow around Australia following successful clinical trial results of the device last year. It now has clinicians delivering the device to patients in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, the Gold Coast and Cairns.

Oventus founder and clinical director Dr Chris Hart said the new facility would be critical to the company?s global expansion plans as it aims to become ?a world leading sleep device company bringing to market a range of products that will enable sleep disorder sufferers to be treated without a mask and even without CPAP.?

Oventus chief executive Neil Anderson said the decision to bring the production onshore was not only to improve quality but also to reduce costs.

?This announcement means that we are able to produce products to assist sufferers of sleep disordered breathing in Australia and add value to the Australian supply chain,? said Mr Anderson.

?This will improve quality and reduce costs because we will be able to buy Australian titanium at Australian rates.?

Currently more than 3800 patients have registered with Oventus online and demand is growing.

?Of these 360 patients are trialling CPAP or other therapies before proceeding with treatment,? said Mr Anderson.

?Currently we have over 1000 patients in care or about to receive a device and we are converting more patients every day.?

Hi Janice, thank you for your email. The trial is open to residents who live in central Brisbane due to the requirements and number of visits (including 3 overnight stays) required as part of the study. Can I ask where you live? For patients outside of Brisbane, we are pleased to advise that the O2Vent device is commercially available at Oventus accredited clinics throughout Australia. If this is of interest to you, please call us on 1300 533 159 and we can discuss your sleep diagnosis further and transfer you to a clinician near you to make an appointment. Thank you
